Celebrate Global Accessibility Awareness Day with FREE Document Testing
Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) is that time of the year to get everyone on the same page, literally. GAAD is an international effort of disability and accessibility advocates with the overall goal of getting people talking, thinking, and learning about digital accessibility and users with disabilities.
Aside from enhancing independence and making it easier to accomplish daily activities, technology can level the playing field even by improving communication between those with and without disabilities, especially through websites, software applications, and telecom products. Electronic documents are no exception. Inaccessible documentation is a barrier to everyone, not just people with disabilities. Therefore, Accessibility Partners is offering a FREE test of one page of your document, in the following formats: PDF, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, or Excel, to look for areas of inaccessibility.
Our expertly skilled team of testers will provide an in-depth look at your page and provide remediation services to increase the accessibility. Please note that content must not be derived from scanned versions, as we are only working in source documents. However, if you have the proper permissions to send an editable page, and we will put our team on the case! Our accessibility engineers with and without disabilities work with the cutting edge technologies to ensure you’re getting an accurate audit.
On May 21, we encourage you to tweet @Access_Partners, Facebook message, or e-mail (Info@AccessibilityPartners.com) us your URL or attachment and we will audit the one-page document at absolutely no charge. Following our review, we will supply you with your remediated document, and other sample recommendations for future documents. Please note that based on volume of documents received, the delivery date of the report will be finalized upon acceptance.
Sharon Rosenblatt, a member of the document testing team, says. “We’re hoping organizations in all sorts of industries reach out to us for this offer. Documents are one of the main mediums of conversation in society today, and we want everyone to be a part of the discussion”.
The target audience is the design, development, usability, and related communities who build, shape, fund and influence technology and its use. While people may be interested in the topic of making technology accessible and usable by persons with disabilities, the reality is that they often do not know how or where to start. Accessibility Partners is here to point you in the right direction.
